Re the crash of Continental Express Flight 2574 September 11, 1991 - I can’t see how the loss of a strip of metal off of the horizontal stabilizer which was blamed for the crash, could cause the plane to be on fire or to break up in flight.
The allegedly recorded banter between Ground Control, First Office Rodosovich and Pilot Captain Patridge is unsafe, particularly the alleged line from Rodosovich at 2:44 "pushin' this descent makin' like the Space Shuttle," which is way too cute.
The NTSB, FAA and the Airline appear to share the consensus it was the co pilot's gung ho behavior putting the aircraft into a power dive as per the "Space Shuttle" recording, that caused the metal strip to come away and was the major cause of the fire, the break up and the crash.

Sammy76 says, "I think you are right...why else did they clean the wreckage up in record time and even excavate the entire area all within 24h...preventing anyone from doing a proper investigation and forcing the world to take them on their word for what happened..this has cover up written all over it IMO.
The plane was shredded to tiny pieces from what little we were shown...looks nothing like a big passenger jet crash site...more like they dug up an area and threw a truck load of scrap around... Also odd is how quick European countries were so quick to call for a ban...and all MSM parroting the exact same story...something stinks.
